What is an Endowment?

An endowment is a fund given by its community supporters and is the lifeblood of any non-profit institution. It is a permanent fund whose income (interest and earnings only) is used to maintain the institution. The money in the endowment itself is never spent; making it a gift that keeps giving. A gift to our endowment provides a permanent source of income, a legacy, a revenue stream that will allow the Cameron Art Museum to keep its doors open for future generations.

Endowment Tops $7 million

Cameron Art Museum's endowment campaign, "Securing Our Future" began in late 2005. Since that time, over $7 million has been pledged.

First, the local philanthropic group, one wilmington, designated the CAM as its 2008 beneficiary. One wilmington members attended an event celebrating this designation in February. Then, the CAM received a surprise $320,000 planned gift. The Bruce B. Cameron Foundation graciously matched both gifts, lifting the pledge amount over the $7 million mark.
